also we are within 1 mile from junction 62 on the A1 (M) giving easy and quick

Things to do

Beamish Museum
This wonderful open-air ‘living museum’, just
12 miles northwest of Durham, recreates County Durham as it was in the years
1825 and 1913 i.e. Pre-Industrial Revolution and Post-Industrial Revolution.
You’re free to wander round the thoughtfully reconstructed shops and houses,
chatting to the costumed guides. You can also help feed the pigs in the
farmyard and ride on the tram.

Durham Cricket Club
Situated at Chester le street Durham play their
home games at the Riverside Stadium, some international games and concerts have
been staged there.

Durham Cathedral
Durham is filled with Romanesque buildings, the Castle being one of them as well as the famous Durham Cathedral, seen as the greatest example of the Norman-Romanesque style. This dominating building is accompanied by a cluster of museums, while there are also gardens open for those who'd prefer to remain out of doors. There are plenty of attractions in Durham.

Durham Riverside Walk
One of Durham’s greatest pleasures is to head
to the river and walk one mile along the shady footpath from just beneath Elvet
Bridge to the 12th-century Framwellgate Bridge. The path winds itself all the way
round the cathedral and castle.
